Theme and colour: I purposely picked up Black and White as the theme colour to make it simple and less ‘busy’. And, since it is a teaser clip, I added some ‘mysterious’ element by having special sound effect (my favourite, typical lightning sound).

Song: If you could hear it carefully, it is part of latest Transformer’s soundtrack (Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen). The title? NEST, by Steve Jablonsky. For those who went to watch it last year, the song was played in the early part of the movie. When I first listened to it, I immediately fall in love with this song as the rhythm is nice, same goes to the music arrangements. Double thumbs up!! However, since it is 2-minutes long, I did some sound editing (i.e. clipping and overlapping) to make it shorter, but yet full with impact and full with mystery (hahahaha, sound like poyo plak).

Softwares: My favourite video editor, as always, Sony Vegas! Highly recommended to others, be it beginner or intermediate level. You can browse through youtube for useful tutorials. I have used this particular software (coupled with Adobe After Effects) to come out with officiating montage of PE Forum. Excellent combo!

Style: My main idea was to reveal the wording, letter by letter in the first part of the trailer. Later, the wordings were scrambled so that people will rajin enough to calculate be able to know how many words are contained in the montage.

Feedbacks? Hahaha, this is quite tricky. Some likes it very much! And for some, they kinda hate it as it is rather confusing. Well, I can’t please everybody, but in my honest opinion, as long as majority of them are OK, then I am happy enough. Plus, it was a one-night-quality of work! >.<

Anyway, in few post backs, I shared my personal experience with Torrent, and the alternative to get around its weaknesses. Here, I am planning to share on something that I just recently signed up. But before that, let me share on the incidents that led me to this. Who knows, you might be having similar scenario as we speak.

It all started when I was desperate, looking for this particular file from the internet. Thanks to Pakcik Google, I managed to get a working link, but I was turned off when I discovered the file was hosted by HOTFILE. What makes things become even worse; there was no other mirror link and I don’t have the premium account for Hotfile >.< One knows that it is VERY expensive to maintain several premium account at one go. Just thought of sharing with you the fee for one month;

To simplify thing, you will need to pay roughly about RM 130 per month to maintain the premium accesses to all the filehosting site. That is madness! There is no way that I am going to set aside that amount of cash monthly! Absurd!

My frustration led me to Service Noticeboard @ Lowyat. And this is where I got my solution to this problem; DLNext service.

DLNext service started several months back and I knew it since I was selected to become the beta testers. I found the speed was very stable and lightning fast. However, since I did not have any pressing reasons to get one, I just simply quit after the trial expired. Looking at current scenario, where the uploaders have started to upload somewhere else, there is a need for me to find alternatives to this.

I decided to give try, i.e. downloaded several files from HotFile server. It turned out to be really good; downloading at 6.5 Mbps speed. Very impressive!

And finally, the ultimate test, download speed from the DLNext server to the PC. Let`s see whether it lives up to expectation..

NICE! It almost maxed out my access speed (1.5Mbps).

The Conclusion: The only drawback of this service is you could download one file at a time from RS/MU/HF to the server, but this setback is counter-balanced with lightning downloading speed. So, I have no issue on that. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service. I believe I may terminate my RS premium account later and add 10GB to DLNext storage space to provide some breathing room (buffer). With this sort of speed, coupled with responsive and excellent customer support (did I tell you, he added me into his YM so that I can just ask him question straight away), I believe DLNext is here to stay. I hereby recommend to those who are looking forward to subscribe to any of the filehosting server, to stop and look at what DLNext has to offer. I bet you it is really worth it!

p/s: Oh crap, my 1.5 TB of harddisk is almost full…

However, Micro Genius was not that ‘genius’ after all. Later, we started to notice that our TV’s screen slowly turned yellowish ;( Initially, the yellowish effect was temporary, but later it became permanent. Abah explained that the culprit was the console, and asked us to play sparingly (only during school holidays). Otherwise, we will make the kedai repair TV kaya plak need to keep on sending the TV for repair, which was troublesome, and expensive too. So, from almost every weekend, it went to just few times a year. Most of the times, it became dust collector. It was hard to swallow, but what to do kan?

Not long after that, Sony revolutionized the industry by introducing PlayStation, which uses disc rather that cartridge. Being a typical kid, I felt that it was the best thing to have. In fact, I used to keep a dream of having one in home. LOL! (though I know Abah confirm tak beli kan lah.. Haha!). In Soksek, things started to change; I accidentally indugle myself in PC Gaming, which turned out to be better! (cait, alasan jer, padahal sbb utama adalah karena tak mampu nak beli PS) Starcraft, Red Alert, Duke Nukem were among my all-time-favourites.

PS2 was introduced in 2000 and I kept the same wish too; to own one when Im in campus. However, in UTP, I found that reasons to stick to PC Gaming are stronger; UTP network FTW! UTP gamers rocks! Thanks to my sponsor, I manage to build decent gaming rig. It was powered by AMD Athlon 1800+ and GeForce Ti 4400 (Titanium series was the 2nd top VGA card laa masa tuh, to the extend that ada sorang neh sanggup jd kelawar kat PC aku to finish up Mafia The Game). So, the dream that I used to have, was slowly fading and hilang entah ke mana… Haha!

Somewhere in 2004 to 2005, industry gaming became interesting. Microsoft was to beef up the challenges with Sony’s PS3, by introducing XBOX 360. And that childish dream came again. LOL! I was attracted by some of the key functions; HD Movies (be it BD or HD DVD), online gaming, wireless controllers, built-in harddisk, downloadable content (DLC) and more console-exclusive games. Mmg jaw-dropping abis lah! In fact, I used to put aside some money, hoping that someday down the road, I could own PS3, but somehow, it never manage to reach the target.. Hahaha! (kesah neh macam lagu ‘Apa Nak Jadi by SM Salim jer..)

And now..

After years of waiting…

The dream that I thought would never be true..

Yesterday, the curiosity came…

“Im wondering.. how does torrent perform right now, here.. It is pretty interesting to do some sort of investigation neh.. hehe”

uTorrent was my favourite torrent client, not only because of its small size (read: 270Kb), but it is also not a resource hogger. Once it has been isntalled and running fine, it is time to find the torrent. hehe! EZTV has been known for its good high quality media, and I was using its as my main source of TV series, in the past lar..

The ‘torrenting’ process went smooth initially, with initial rate of 5 KB/s… Although it was kinda slow, but knowing the fact that torrent requires little more time to “warm up” (read: connect to seeds and peers), I left it running for two hours, unattended…

As expected, the speed was still sluggish (barely maintain above 25 KB/s)… even after i have done the portforward and enabling encryption..

And for comparison sake, this is what I have been getting all this while using direct download (DL) links…

Can you guys notice the different in speed??

It is INSANE, I know.. and, i’m lucky to be able to get excellent speed from DL.. DL enables me to fully utilize my bandwidth to the max, and that`s what I want.. Although, I need to fork out additional money for the premium account, sigh~

Anyway, for those torrent-maniac, don’t just simply be mad and give up, actually there are several ways to work around this… One of my old friends, Tesla did some blogging about that (clue: VPN).. Perhaps, you could run a quick check.. hehe !

Frankly speaking, I was shocked to discover that page yesterday.. I didn’t expect it to happen at all, since it is backed by well-known giant company, Yahoo! It was taken over at relatively higher price in 1999; leading to a speculation that Yahoo! had bigger plan for Geocities. And, exactly 10 years down the road, they are calling it a day.. and pulling the plug. How pathetic,seriously..

I could still remember my old days with Geocities. In fact, it gave me tremendous and priceless experience in developing a website from scratch(frameset, img, hr, a href…). I started small; with simple HTML coding and custom FLASH contents (thanks to my sifu, Obefiend). Even my sifu was using Geocities. That era was awesome, I must say; free FTP service, huge webspace, multimedia support, etc. What else you were looking for… And, for the record, Geocities was the leading free webhosting. Not even Tripod could come close,hence the takeover by Yahoo!

As soon as the news reached me, I quickly re-opened the old website that I first developed. To my surprise, it is still there. OMG. Even Effi’s website is still up. Hahaha! Old memory came in rushing, classic indeed! At a first glance, I couldnt just stop laughing. The design was UGLY, and I still wonder how come it looked OK on my pc.. This is so not fair! Haha. Nothing much has really changed except the screen resolution. Effi’s one still look great; the headphone was awesome, dude. Seriously, I still like it until today.

Ya ya.. you guys can start laughing at me.. I know the design is soooooo bad compared to Effi’s!

ANYHOW, I JUST WANNA SAY THANK YOU GEOCITIES FOR THE SWEET MEMORY!.

1. Somehow, blue colour has HUGE influence in my life.. Back in primary school, my class; (1 Biru, 2 Biru, 3 Biru, 4 Biru, 5 Biru and 6 Biru), and my ‘rumah sukan’ was also blue. I thought it was over, but in Soksek, same things happened; 1 Biru – 2 Biru – 3 Biru – 4 Sarjana (all Biru classes were renamed to Sarjana) – 5 Sarjana. And, my rumah sukan; Nilam’s colour is blue. Haha

2. Having said Point 1 above, my favourite colour is blue; most of my shirts/jeans/pants is blue in colour. lol! I would feel awkward if I dun have any blue color attached to me that day

3. Back in Soksek (Form 1), I became ‘lead singer’ for my nasyid group during our orientation performance night; it was so bad, that I became ‘bahan umpatan/ejekan’ senior2. Hampeh!

4. Back in Soksek, I love going back to Taiping/Bukit Mertajam in train; it was fun particularly, whenever we cross the Bukit Merah lake. *school-sick*

5. I met with accident several times back in UTP; the funniest one happened right after I sat for an exam paper. Lots of students were crossing the roads. I had some miscalculation in tackling the tight corner, thus the bike hit the divider and I was basically thrown out and ‘bergolek2′.. HAHAHA, the girls were giggling, such a shame!

6. I LOVE laksa; i could finish up 4 full plates of laksa in one seating.. haha!

7. I would use tomyam as my benchmark on my favourite restaurant to check whether it could be my one of my favourite eating spots. Refer this post.

8. Literally ‘hot’ meals/drinks are my favorite. But, recently, I ‘tergoda‘ dek my wife’s cold drinks.. Best laa plak.

9. Computer/Gadgets/Computer games are my obsession; I could spend hours reading/reviewing articles over the internet about new gadgets/computer hardwares/games.

10. I broke my left hand as I fell off my bicycle; it took me one month to recover. Consequently, I couldn’t fully bend my left hand now.

11.  I am a colour-blind person; had some problem to join my current company initially, but Alhamdulillah He helped me eventually. I am still serving that company as we speak..

12. I met my wife during my company’s induction programme (01/06/06). *blush* We got married 33 months later.. :p

13. Almost drown when I was 15, I thought I was going to die. Alhamdulillah, I managed to ‘kick’ myself up and saved myself.

14. I am perfectionist; sometimes, I hate it so much that it slows me down when it comes to preparing presentation slides; but sometimes it helps me to get the praises from my supervisor

15. Observing things and  making deduction out of it, are my hobby. ‘Teori 3 tahun’ (ask Chet for details) and ‘Ghost Train‘ are some of the ‘products’. HAHA!

16. I enjoy myself helping friends solving problems related to computers (particulary network and software related); I found that it helped to enrich my knowledge, broaden my skill and it made people happy!

17. Multitasking is my favourite; I found it is stimulating my brain to work harder and keep me fresh too! (and ended-up ‘tdo mati‘ at the end of the day)

18. ‘Butterfingers’ is my all-time-favourite grunge band. Following close behind is ‘Linkin Park’. They accompanied my night stay-up back in Sokek, 3-1/2 hours driving back to Taiping/KL, and when I was in blues~.

19. Prefer BMW over Mercedes coz IMHO, driving the latter makes you look much older. hehe ;p (my beloved wife shares the same idea, haha)

20. Have huge ‘hunger’ over new inventions/’how does it works’ things; so, in order to get my daily dosage of updates, I would tune to Discovery Channel !

21. Hardcore fan of Manchester United since high school. When I was in Form 3, I put ‘David Beckham’ label behind my chair. Glory glory Manchester United!

22. Have high respect to those people who have helped me in my life. Would do everything to repay their kindness..

23. Adore macro shots. I just love the details, not matter how gross it is. And, I have dream to shoot one for myself. Hopefully, my rezeki is ‘murah‘ that I could get me one of those macro lens

24. My recent obsession is BluRay-rip movies, and HQ videop clips. 720p is the minimum, 1080p is absolutely yummy2; the picture quality is SUPERIOR! OUTSTANDING! ‘MENGIYURKAN’! Seriously, you guys should give a try
